Officer, clinician, and paramedic respond to mental health calls: SA CORE expands city-wide 24/7
San Antonio CORE (Community Outreach and Resiliency Effort) sends a mental health-trained police officer, a paramedic from the San Antonio Fire Department, and a licensed mental health clinician from the Center for Health Care Services to non-violent mental health calls. Call 911 to request the CORE team services in any part of the city at any time.
In the first-year pilot program, from April 2022 to March 2023, less than 1% of the calls ended in an arrest, and 35% of the calls were resolved on the scene. During follow-up calls with consumers, nearly 56% of consumers were connected to the Center for Health Care Services for the first time.

Good Riddance! These Black on Black Race murdering sellouts are the real enemy. God Bless our Heroes in Law enforcement, and I pray for there Safety and there families every day and in church as well. As a Life long Conservative I have personally witnessed and had to deal with these Evil doers who have been Murdering and Keeping there own people down, but blaming racism for there plight, it's Disgusting and I feel we in the Hispanic and Black Communities do not deserve there protections, and Shame on BLM and others who engage in amplifying exceptions and turning it into a BIG FAT LIE. How many times did that thief ignore commands to stop running, put your hands up, get out of the car? Please, it was a suicide. The law abidding pedestrian got down and remained safe. It's called stop running. Listen to commands. Get on the ground, put your hands out so they can see you don't have a weapon. Let's see you stand out in the open, chase down a theif and try to apprehend while he's getting in a stollen car and your on foot! You don't want shot down,? This was a unjustifed shooting. The vehicle had turned away from the officers, and was actually driving away from them when they shot. I understand I was not there, but the officers could have used restraint, but they did not. At the moment of them shooting, their lives were not in immediate threat of death or serious bodily injury because the vehicle turned away from them, and by shooting they potentially put the woman w/dog in more danger by now having a uncontrolled car. I suspect that the driver had not just prior to being shot commited a felony that included death or serious bodily injury (Gardner vs Tennesse) or at least SAPD officers did not have probable cause of such a crime, as they were investigating a suspected car theft. So I ask why did the Officer's shoot? Was it because they suspected it was a stolen car; was it because the driver had previosuly killed someone or seriously injured someone; or did the officer really believe that their lives were in danger even though the car turned away from them and the woman with dog? The sanctity of life must be preserved which includes the officers and even criminal if the criminal's action does not justify shooting them. Shooting anyone to preserve property-and yes a car, is just out right silly, unless your life is in danger as a result of that theft, and it did not appear the officers lives were in danger, as they were not in the path of danger when they shot. On the surface, without any other information to go on other than the video, I would say the Officer's action of using deadly force is unjustified, and we cannot allow cowboys who think they are in the wild West to operate with impunity. I am not saying that I support criminals, because I do not. I do not, nor should anyone else, support Police Officers who use an excessive level of force including deadly force in any situation. I support law enforcement in general, but not Cowboys who are eager to shoot their weapons even though the situation may not warrant it. Replies, good, bad, or indifferent are welcomed.

I've rewound and played the video 20 times trying to pin point the angle of the wheels to the sound of the firearm. Also, keep in mind that video works in frames-per -second. What you see when you click pause at 0:55 may not be the same thing I see at 0:55. This is not a luxury the officers had as a stolen vehicle moves in their general direction at a distance of 5 to 10 feet away. I can guarantee the officers are not studying the angle of the tires. They're likely looking at the driver. They also know that somewhere immediately behind them there is a woman on the ground that could be in the path of the vehicle. Taking the totality of the situation, which transpired in about 4 seconds, I say it's justified. If, for whatever reason, the officers had stopped before reaching the grass and the offender took the same action with the vehicle, then I would lean toward it not being justified.

@Codeinemyheart did he intent to have a stolen car? Actions have consequences, first if he wouln't have stolen the vehicle and try to run i'm sure he would still be alive. Pretty common sense. Enough with this criminals getting to do what they want and getting very little to no punishment
